Last year, The Blackbird Academy team had a fantastic time attending Bonnaroo! This year’s Roo has an amazing lineup and will surely not disappoint!
The headliners are always the main draw of the festival, but often I find myself only being REALLY excited about two or three. That is certainly not the case this year with Elton John, Jack White, Lionel Richie, Phoenix, and Skrillex. There’s also Kanye West, but also, hopefully, we won’t have to wait until 5:30 a.m. for him to go on this time! Additionally, there’s Lauryn Hill, whose tax loss was our festival gain. The list of major players goes on and on this year. If we didn’t have a hard enough time choosing to see on a regular year, this year’s schedule is sure to be even harder to figure out.
But it’s not all about the headliners. Oh no, Bonnaroo is one of the best places to check out little-known bands that will likely be on a mainstage next year. I’m excited to check out The Wild Feathers, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Cherub, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down, and J. Roddy Walston & The Business ( a personal fave). There’s also Vintage Trouble, Sarah Jarosz, Phosphorescent, Chance the Rapper, Cage the Elephant, and many, many more. Can we get a slow clap for the appearance from CAKE? That set is going to be amazing.
